Insecurity: Sokoto Government Shuts Boarding Schools

Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, has ordered the total and immediate closure of all boarding schools outside the state metropolis due to security challenges facing the Northwestern region.


This was disclosed by the Secretary to the State Government, Malam Sa’idu Umar, during the state security council meeting on Sunday.


According to him, “the closure takes immediate effect from Monday, 1st March and will be in place till further notice, pending the ease in the current security challenges ravaging the state in recent times.”


“All boarding schools within Sokoto metropolis, located in Sokoto North, Sokoto South, Bodinga and Wamakko local government areas will not be affected by the order, they will continue with academic activities,” he added.
