Zamfara state government has on Sunday dismissed the claim that the abducted schoolgirls of Government Girls Science Secondary School, Jangebe have regained freedom.

This was contained in a press release signed by the Press Secretary to the state governor, Jamilu Iliyasu B/Magaji.

According to him, news of the release of the 317 schoolgirls is just a rumour which shouldn’t be considered as truth.

Recall that about 317 female students of Government Girls Science Secondary School, Jangebe were on Friday abducted by suspected armed bandits disguised in military camouflage.

B/Magaji revealed that the state government has been making efforts to rescue the victims and bring them home safely to their parents.

“Gov. Bello Mohammed MON Matawallen Maradun and his aides have since Friday when the girls were abducted by gunmen not rested but been working round the clock making frantic efforts that will lead to the safe release of the victims and are not happy that someone who does not know the details of the situation will try to further hurt the victims’ parents, government and the security by ridiculing the effort with falsehood.

“The state government will come immediately and happily inform the world as soon as the girls are released,” the press release read.
